The bizarre pacing, aggressively passive performances and alarmingly sterile cinematography elevate what could be an urban legend to a cinematic installation worthy of its epic, tragic title. Kidman and Farrell impress with deeply internalized emotion while the younger supporting players prove disturbingly comedic.
