Ralph Breaks the Internet


Arcade world explodes outward, but moral message narrows for a cautionary tale about over-controlling friendships, in sharp contrast to the out of control online universe. Brilliant allusions to reality, a perfect peppering of product placements and an exemplary exploitation of Disney’s dynasty effectively fix up a wreck of a plot.

Paul

Shaun and Fuzz team up again but without Wright everything goes wrong. The jokes fall flat, the plot is convoluted, and the character’s are mostly un-sympathetic. Kristen Wiig and the animating team responsible for CGI-ET are the films only saving graces. This Pineapple Express Encounter is less super than bad.

Role Models

Hybrid of Apatow and Phillips comedic styles puts Rudd alongside Stifler in his first decent Role since Pie. Generally funny with humor stemming from endearing irreverence. Succeeds at building emotional connections but also forsakes them in favor of gotcha jokes. Fairly satisfying plot gets a bit too fantastical towards end.
