After attempting career Suicide, Smith keeps gasping for Ayer, this time as the Neo-cop protagonist of Fantastic Bigots and How to Bind Them. Joel’s Edgy orc is impressively empathetic in his inability to keep up with the convoluted plot, and like most spells, the Rapacist is miscast. Not too bright.

Suicide Squad

DC Dozen’s editing, writing, music and tone are more schizophrenic than its ‘characters’ allegedly are. Redundant flashbacks, irrelevant exposition and illogical plotting send silly ‘story’ swan-diving into vat of tapioca puddin’. Smith wills his way through by reverting to fresh quips while others struggle to escape from completely contrived characterization.

Fury

Ahab Pitt pursues white-power whale in visually astounding and brilliantly brooding war story.  Percy finally ascends to his co-stars’ godly realm, though Labaeiouf steals show with bible-thumping rabidity.  Incredible moral tale, peppered with palpable suspense, devastating imagery but slightly over-cinematic conclusion.  Ayer kept it fresh, and for that deserves tanks.
