They stage super-disappointing resurrection as a cheat-code against the infinity boxes that threaten to plunge the whole cinematic universe into a tonally mismatched mess irredeemable even by the combined work of every action composer or occasional Flashes of humor.

Live by Night


Affleck’s Godfather doesn’t own the night in a film roughly as lively as a prohibition documentary. His wooden performance blends in perfectly with the muted Gray color palette and similarly sedated supporting stars. Interesting story, crisp dialog and bloody Tampans leave hope that Ben’s directorial success isn’t gone baby gone.

The Accountant


Jealous of Boston brother’s critical successes, Affleck assumes his Identities in Bad Bourne Hunting. The premise is a bit of a Reacher, but once the Wick is lit, this thriller burns steadily from start to finish. Contrived coincidences detract from complex plot, but capable cast make it all add up.
