For all its star power, this chamber piece fires all blanks except in its attempt to desensitize to gun violence. An attempt at a comedic crime caper completely misses the target as an arsenal of talented actors fill a Room with less personality than Brie alone has in the past.

Gentleman Bird comes of age after a seedy encounter with a fruit and beautiful relationships with an exotic stranger and his own blossoming sexuality in this carefully careless and maturely juvenile tale of love and lust. Stuhlbarg provides perfect paternal support while Hammer nails it, fully inhabiting his outsider role.

Nocturnal Animals

Tom afFords more time to source novel’s frame than to its story, but opts for the title of the latter, indicating narrative confusion that pervades this picturesque piece. Stellar performances from distractingly star-studded cast cut through the gray muddled night, but the structure fails to rise up the evolutionary ladder.
