Cake

Aniston’s performance is the icing on this otherwise bland slice of life.  Upper-crust Crime and Punishment substitutes murder victim for Kendrick, who learns that what goes Up in the Air must come down.  Barazza adds bit of Babel, perhaps because her maid services were left to Jen in the settlement.

Wanderlust

Aniston gets dragged on this Apatow-esque roadtrip into a stereo-typical hippy commune and onto an over-the-top husband to be.  Extreme commune portrayal builds a few funny jokes but undermines efforts to make commentary on everyday life.  Rudd plays Rudd as usual, but ad libs away potential sexiest scene in film.

Horrible Bosses

Two Jasons enjoy a sunny Day in Philadelphia alongside crazy Cruise-esque performances from three veteran talents. Arbitrary antics and quick dialogue feel like a happy Hangover, as does the meandering and somewhat senseless plot. Funny film but leaves viewer wanting a little more nymphoniac Anistons, Killer Kevins and Cokehead Colins.
