Wonder Woman

Wonder Gal’s nuanced naivety sustains an overlong story despite periodic poor pacing. Excellently executed film uses physical action as proxy for ideals resulting in an epic battle boasting comedy, moral weight, and a sprinkling of Snyder speed-ramps. DC deserves a Pat on the back for finally birthing a good film.

Legend

Hardy does double-tom to deliver kray-kray performance in an otherwise bland London crime epic. Goodblokes feels like a poor Guy Richie piece as it walks a straight line from start to finish with the only arc provided by love story which is almost as forced and underwhelming as Browning’s voiceover.

The Theory of Everything

Redmayne stands out as he sits down in A Beautiful Imitation of My Left Foot while an understated ensemble provide almost as much support as the real life characters they portray.  Effectively presents the contents of Hawking’s complex mind, while probing deep into the moral ambiguities of human hearts.  Crunch!

London Boulevard

Monahan Departs states for Guy style crime flick, In London.  Farrell’s lead hits Bondy Bullseye as he prettily negotiates gritty England.  Through Naked Thewlis he lands gig visiting Knightley daily as she struggles to portray an awkward British actress.  Fails to be a multilayered cake but still an intriguing caper.
