All the Money in the World

Reshoots cost less than ransoms after Spacey getties the boot. Compound scandals aside, All the Money is nothing World-shattering, with straightforward storyline and clichéd hero straight from the espionage Wahl of fame. Plummer’s hastily rendered performance stands out in a sluggish film but it’s Williams who pays off the most.

The Greatest Showman

A Passable Showman features glittery idealized representation of grotesque rags to riches story. Catchy lyrics and impressive acrobatics leap around above the mediocre missed messages of elephantine caca land, while Logan retains his ability to heal his reputation despite freakishly unkind behavior. Never quite lives up to spectacular opening moment.

Manchester By the Sea

You Can Maybe Count On Me marks Kenneth’s Longer-than necessary return to brooding slice of life dramas. Other Affleck’s emotionally choked character finds its best justification yet, and though Williams, Hedges and self-titled Chandler provide competent support, other appearances ring flat and false. Over all a well told quasi-redemption story.
