Refn’s starry-eyed lady-Drive warrants forgiveness for failed
followup. Sequin sequences periodically punctuate a story that begs comparison
in content and style to Ellis’ Glitterama. Decadent cinematography and superbly
surreal performances make this alien film stand out in smoggy sky. Cautions
against dangers of self-absorption, like monogramming NWR under the title.

Warcraft
Can’t slam Duncan hard enough, as this time he overshoots
the moon big time. Source could be to blame for heavy-handed exposition and
mediocre storyline, but dark magic must be at fault for the awful CG. New
additions to D&D character canon include heroin-withdrawn soldier, seasick
half-orc and constipated foster-wizard.

Suicide Squad
DC Dozen’s editing, writing, music and tone are more
schizophrenic than its ‘characters’ allegedly are. Redundant flashbacks,
irrelevant exposition and illogical plotting send silly ‘story’ swan-diving
into vat of tapioca puddin’. Smith wills his way through by reverting to fresh
quips while others struggle to escape from completely contrived
characterization.
