Collateral Beauty
Life is Cynical continues Will Smith’s Pursuit of Oskars but
falls like so many dominos as it drifts from clichéd to conniving to contrived.
Star-studded cast turn in career low performances as the illogical and deeply
troubled mini-machiavellis. One clever third act reveal hardly compensates for
all the collateral BS.

The Lego Batman Movie
Feels like an overlong South Park episode made weaker
through pulled plastic punches. Amusing Romantic Knight plot provides clever
genre commentary and appearance of infinite baddies from inside and outside
canon proved spectacular entertainment, but ultimately the comedy doesn’t quite
match the originality of predecessor. Perhaps they suffered writers blocks.
