Aragorn takes his Hobbits Off the Road in The Swiss Family
Mortensens. Fantastic Western analysis of varying parenting methods Promises
its Captain an opportunity to air his private philosophies and parts. Bizarrely
abrupt third act twist hardly detracts from the most touchingly intellectual
family adventure that Wes wishes he’d directed.

Florence Foster Jenkins
Meryl proves to be a two-way Streep, just as capable of
acting talentless as talented. Frears delights in torturing audience with
extended segments of perfectly rendered horrible singing. Grant’s fascinatingly
complex supporting character and the film’s morally ambiguous attitude towards
him make for the best note in otherwise painful melody.

Eye in the Sky
Excellently executed real-time quasi-chamber-drama.
International equivalent of 12 Angry Men tackles complex questions while
filling well-rounded roles with exceptionally diverse cast. Crackles like House
of Cards, but never falls as it interweaves political correctness with military
morality, dashing in occasional action and comic moments without ever
sacrificing maturity as collateral.
