Train wreck


Amy approaches this tale with her typical bluntness and sincerity, then sells out in the third act. When she gives up her alcohol and weed, the film gives up its voice and credibility. Hader, Larson and a slew of supporting comedians are under-utilized while Lebron scores a surprising slam dunk.

White-washed Wilson and Bell escape from their comedic trappings and lend remarkable credibility to their terrified characters.  Another anecdote about Americans in trouble, manages to maintain tension amidst realistic turmoil, at least until Brosnan pierces the fabric of film’s reality and ruins the tone with his smarmy action hero conspirator.
